Recent Favourites: Christmas Edition
Since it's Christmas Eve — eeeep! I thought I'd share a few of my favourite things about Christmas.
01.Twinkly Fairy Lights:
I absolutely love fairy lights, just looking at them makes me feel so Christmassy. They just add that extra sparkle and make everything look so pretty. I honestly can't get enough of them.
02.Putting the Christmas Tree Up:
Putting the Christmas Tree up as a family has been a long running tradition. I love the whole experience of putting the tree up — from getting all the decorations down from the attic and selecting all my favourite baubles to seeing the tree once it's finished. However, since moving away for uni I've missed out on the excitement of this but there is something so comforting about coming home and seeing the tree up.
03.Travelling Home and Spending Time with Family:
I get so excited to finish work and head home for a few days to spend some quality time with my family. My family is quite big and I don't get to see some of them that much so having us all in the one place at the one time is great.
For me, mince pies signal the start of Christmas. Every year, my dad always makes loads of mince pies for the whole family so it is something I always look forward to when I go home.
This is a childhood favourite. Every year my gran used to take my brother, my cousin and I for dinner and then to the Christmas Pantomime and we loved it. Returning as an adult it brings back some great memories and who doesn't love a good, cheesy pantomime?
There's nothing better than being all cosy in bed watching Christmas movies back to back. I have so many favourites including The Grinch, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Elf, The Santa Clause, Home Alone and Miracle on 34th Street. Just watching a couple of these gets me so excited and in the mood for Christmas!
Ok, so I LOVE candles all year round anyway but there is nothing like a cinnamon candle to get you in the mood for Christmas.
Even though I get really stressed about wrapping odd shaped presents I still really enjoy laying out all the gifts I've bought and wrapping them up all pretty.
Unfortunately, we've not had any snow this year but when it does there is nothing I love more than to go for a big long walk through the snow or travel back to being a kid again and go sledging!
10.Frosty Winter Mornings:
Although they make it very hard to leave bed in the morning, they make everything outside feel so crisp and fresh and make you want to bundle up in a cosy oversized jumper and breathe in that fresh air.
